Floor Sample Madness

One of the ways we were able to save on furniture for our home was the glorious Floor Sample Sales. We generally shop at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and Z Gallery which all have very nice furniture at generally pretty hefty prices. Each of these stores have Floor Sample Sales twice a year, once at late summer to prep for the fall and winter collections and once at late winter for the spring and summer items.

The key to all of this is to keep a mental list of all the items that have caught your eye and wait for them to go on sale. There are usually two to three rounds of price slashing on each item until they are sold. Also go into the store with an idea of what wear you are willing to live with. For us, there was a piece with a chunk out of a leg and that brought the price down several hundred dollars, we knew that a couch would be covering that chunk leg and it was still very stable so we picked the baby up!

This method allowed us to grab pieces for all over the house for pennies to their original price, below are all the items we were able to steal! I suggest you all get ready for the next sale and purchase to your heart's content!

This mirror is from Crate and Barrel and is originally $299.00 we snagged it at a floor sample sale just a couple of months ago for $57.00! That is almost a savings of $250.
This is a little bar cart from Watson & Co. that was originally $375 and we are now the proud owners for $125. They have a sale twice a year called their Annex Sale where everything in the store is discounted between 30-70% off. Find out where your favorite stores have annual or semi-annual sales to score the best deal
Crate and Barrel does not have this piece exactly anymore but it was originally $349 and we paid $99 I think because there was a small discoloration on a shelf inside. Who cares, I am putting plates all over that sucker! We ended up getting a second one to create our bar on sale for $200 so we got a custom-ish bar for $300 which is still less than the price of one cabinet!
Cost Plus is to thank for our dining chairs - they were originally $125 and they were discontinuing this exact version so we got 6 for $60 each!
We have three of these cubes and you will see that we love plaid. Best pick up ever - they unfortunately do not sell them anymore but these were originally $250 each. Ouch, pricey! So we saw three cubes on the shelves behind a cashier station and made a mental check of the sitch. Few months have passed and they all go on floor sample clearance! I think we got them for $75 each for pieces that have never actually been on the floor!

True story happened again with our two plaid chairs - this chair was $699 originally, WOW that's a high price! We picked up this comfy one for $300! Ba-da-BAM!
Strolling through the Great Indoors - we normally never go there but I had a gift card burning in my pocket. We had just built the island and have no where to sit (this is starting to sound like a nursery rhyme...) Turn around in the sofa section and what do we find, the perfect match to our new kitchen! These stools were on floor clearance for a little paint chipping, nothing a sharpie couldn't fix. $85 each. On other browsing we saw similar stools for about 2-hundo.
I have no idea why this was in the floor sample sale but I am glad it was! Originally $799.00 and we picked it up for $400
Oooh and his brother was the same price but only $300 because there was a chunk missing from one of the back legs. You will never see it because it is next to our couch! It now houses our games and is the throne on which the Elway helmet resides...
We got this also at Crate and Barrel for only $79. Why in God's name are mirrors so expensive normally?
This was a super cool find at Crate and Barrel for $125. This was a sample sent to C&B and it was not actually picked up but it is a semi-unique piece in our home.
This is a great modular desk piece from Pottery Barn was was on floor clearance because they were updating to another color in the store.
This chair was at C&B and it was hanging out in the window facing the inside of the mall for months and we were able to snag it for $350!
This is a great shelf from Pottery Barn and it was an internet order that was returned and their colors are slightly different so they had to sell it for half off!

Our super lovely bed was also a floor sample and super sale from Z Gallerie and it was half off plus they were having this sale where they paid the taxes so our kingly dream catcher was only $1,300!
This awesome little cub was also a C&B special for only $99!
