Bark at Halloween

Halloween Bark is one of our favorite things about the Halloween season. Screw, the kids, this candy is for our bellies! I was inspired by this recipe but left out some stuff and B totally loves it the way it is. It was such a hit last year that B insisted I buy enough supplies to make 3 full recipes. I made a quick and small test one a few days ago and it has just made our love for the bark come to a fever pitch! Enjoy this with your friends and family, if you don't eat it all first! I will do a rough recipe to show everything that goes into it because everyone has a different preference on the ratios of candy.

Halloween Bark

1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
Heath Bars
Butterfinger Bars
Honey Roasted Peanuts
Candy Corn

  1. Melt the chocolate chips either in the microwave or in a bowl over a pan of water on the stove (i.e. a poor-man's double-boiler)
  2. While the chocolate is melting, get your aggressions out by tossing in the Butterfinger and Heath bars into a large plastic baggie and pound those down into nice chunks
  3. Cover a cookie sheet with foil tightly. This will allow you to get the chocolate off easily
  4. Pour the melted chocolate on to the cookie sheet and spread to desired size and thickness
  5. Sprinkle over the crushed candy, peanuts, and candy corns all over. Be ready to get a little chocolate on your fingers by pressing the candy into the chocolate to ensure no a piece of sugar goodness is lost.
  6. Melt the white chocolate the same way and take a spoon to drizzle over the bark to look super pretty and locks in those candy pieces even more
  7. Place the whole sheet in a fridge or freezer  for 15-20 minutes to harden
  8. Take it out and either whack it with a meat tenderizer or crack with your hands. The foil will peel right off and this bark is ready for consumption. Store in the fridge to keep it fresh and non-melty.
