Random Ramblin'

I am a little light on the blog fodder right now so I though a stream of consciousness would be fun. Now you have a glimpse on what is going on in my head...Scary, I know.

  • I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away! Last year solidified my menu so I am totally not stressed about that and I have already ordered the turkey. B mentioned that he hopes it will be pretty quiet, he reminded me that we have not had a Thanksgiving by our selves in years. As much as I love family and I hope that my brother comes out along with the in-laws, just having the holiday to ourselves does sound kinda nice. Just sayin'
  • I have to get started on shopping for B for Christmas. I have a list and everything, I just actually need to go and get those dang things.
  • I went to the dentist yesterday and came out with a bill for over $600! Dang! I love my dentist but it made me super sad that all of my years without cavities are well behind me. I got my first cavity a couple of years ago and what super sucks is I only get in-between teeth cavities. My dentist even said that if he did not do an x-ray, he would have said I have perfect chompers. Can I get a whomp-wha?
  • We had some new friends come over this last weekend and they were so nice and they shared B and my thoughts on so many things. It was refreshing because it seems that B and I are the outsiders with our thoughts on marriage, money, and family.
  • This week turned into an impromptu leftovers week. My freezer has a not so lovely feature of the shelves crashing down when you open the door. When I had two containers shatter on the floor, I decided we need to clear it out some. I love to cook but sometimes it is so lovely to come home and shove something in the oven to cook while I workout. Plus it means minimal clean up, I don't exactly love washing dishes...
  • I cannot believe it is only Wednesday and I cannot wait for Friday and the weekend...
  • B and I are hosting his group's Christmas party this year and I am extremely excited. It is a chance for me to bust out a ton of hors d'ouvres and wow everyone with my mad skillz (I am modest, can't you tell?). I have been trying to place a theme around it to make it cohesive. I was thinking Around the World in 8 Bites or maybe Americana where there are regional favorites. Still thinking about it and trying to add a twist to make it a budget party...
  • With the party, I already feel like we need more Christmas decorations - you can never have too many decorations. I am pushing for a kitchen Christmas tree to have a bunch of cute food ornaments. I already have a spot picked out and everything. I need to do some serious crafting though too, I love doing all that kind of stuff.
  • We have been blessed with some awesome cool weather and it just makes me want to be at home in our nuggs and sip hot apple cider and read a good book with the kitty baby with me. Awww!
  • I think I have my list of cookies to bake this year for the holidays along with some seasonal treats. I usually give them out to co-workers and neighbors. B always goes bananas for them so he gets a little possessive of them but I have learned to make a whole bunch of different kinds and give only a couple of each. The list is:
    • Gingerbread men or Spicy Molasses Cookies
    • Sugar Cookie Snowflakes and/or stars
    • Peanut-Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
    • Pumpkin Scotchies
    • Peppermint Bark
    • Chocolate dipped Pretzle rods
    • White Chocolate Cranberry cookies
    • Chocolate Covered Pecans or Sweet and Spicy Pecans - totally depends on what my awesome Grandma sends from her grove
    • Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
  • I cannot come up with a decorating theme for our guest bathroom upstairs and it is really annoying me for some reason. It is orange and completely awesome so any ideas are completely welcomed...
  • I hate that I get frustrated at things that really have no impact on my life. I really need to sit myself down and have a little slap across the face chat...
  • I am super excited that Hub-B will be back more frequently and you get to hear some life thoughts from my amazing husband.
  • I cannot believe that the Duggars are having another kid, it is amazing to me that her body can take that many babies. I have not had the pleasure of baking a peanut but I hear it is quite the ordeal...
  • I feel like the end of the year is my time to go to the doctor and geesh, I have seen so many doctors lately. I am totally looking forward to not going for a while!
  • Chicken Pox sucks and so do the vaccinations. I have never had those itchy spots and this is a family trend, my Grandpa got it in his twenties and it is extremely dangerous and he got super sick. My brother also got it in his teens which is another bad one so I got a vaccination when I was in high school. Low and behold, it was not effective! I could have gotten the spots bad all these years. So now I got the vaccination again but it is a two stage one and I had a wicked reaction. Totally not looking forward to dealing with it for a week again in three weeks...BOO

I think that is it for now...I have so many more things bouncing around in my noggin!
