Feeling the Crisp in the Air...

So we are finally starting to feel the change of the season here in Colorado. We have a rule that Autumn starts on September 1st so I am a little late on posting our Autumn List and I know you have been waiting in anticipation but here it is!

We have this beaut hanging on our fridge to remind us of all the awesome things we have to do this fall. Since Summer really isn't our bag baby, we are def going to get this awesomeness done in our favorite season. This summer was actually the hottest summer in record in Colorado and lemme just say it was HORRIBLE! We already have had nights in the 40s and days in the high 60s so we are super excited to be done with the heat streak. They, whoever "they" are, are saying that our Winter is going to be a nasty one and that cannot be sweeter words to my ears, hello snow days! Enough of that season that must not be named and the coming Winter, lets dive into this sweet Autumn list.

  • Apple Brandy - B and I have always wanted to try some and we picked up one of those awesome bottles where they grow the apple inside. We will give an update on our opinion!
  • Watson & Co Sale - Watson & Co. is one of our favorite stores in Denver, not quite antiques but has an antique feel. Every fall, they have an annex sale of epic proportions and we always go a little ca-razy
  • Apple Picking - I did this when I lived in Boston and it was so much fun, I knew we had to do it here and then I can make a bunch of yummies like apple pie, brie and apple quesadillas, apple butter...excuse me while I wipe my drool off my face.
  • Watch Pumkin Chunkin - I apparently spelled this incorrectly, it should be Punkin Chunkin - its a little hillbilly like that. This is one of the coolest things we watch every year and B and I both agree that we WILL attend this glorious event one year in Delaware. I encourage everyone to check it out! Punkin Chunkin is also on the Science channel every Thanksgiving so you don't have to venture too far from the couch after Turkey-coma.
  • Batman Arkham City - One of the best video games B has ever played was Batman Arkham Asylum and this is the new game they are coming out with. This is a hotly anticipated event in the Campbell household. A cool thing we discovered is you can buy a card at Target for $1 to get the game and you get a $5 Target gift card for "pre-ordering" the game. Total bonus if you are going to buy something no matter what.
  • Thanksgiving Dinner - Do I really need to explain this?! B and I love this and I have my spread down now and B will NOT allow me to make changes. There will most definitely be a post all about the happenings, I think my brother is going to make it this year, we are excited to have him!
  • Bilbo Baggins Quote Canvas - There is a wonderful quote in Lord of the Rings that I find very fitting to have in our home and I will paint it this year and I will do a lovely post all about it
  • S'mores - Since this Summer was unbearably hot, it did not sound like a nice evening sitting in front of a fire, but now that it's a little nippy, it sounds amazing.
  • Black Friday - We do Black Friday every year and it is kind of a big deal 'round these parts. People line up and share hot chocolate and such, being very small town America about it, no trampling to worry about! We love it for the deals and we usually get a head start on Christmas shopping, it's a great day to get stocking stuffers and "filler" gifts.
  • Shrunken Apple Heads - One of the coolest things I have seen on the multi-talented Martha. Check out the link to see how it is done!/
  • Botanic Gardens - We did not do this in the Summer but will definitely do it on our honorary Anniversary date - October 23rd
  • Seven Falls - Now that we will not die of heat exhaustion...
  • Breckenridge - We always go in the fall to see the colors and eat some COOKIES!
  • Roasted Chestnuts - B and I have never tried these and we hear that they are to die for so we want to take the plunge, at least we will know where our hands have been compared to New York street vendors!
  • Carve Pumpkins - Obvs
  • Pumpkin Scotchies - some of the best cookies I make if I do say so myself. I found this beaut on Tastespotting...
  • Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin - We got the Charlie Brown Holiday DVD pack last year and methinks this is a new tradition!
  • Pumpkin Bread - Who doesn't love everything pumpkin in the Fall?
  • Football Party - I love football and parties so I think it is a perfect combo! I am thinking we should have this for the Broncos v. Patriots - we all know the Pats will obliterate the Broncos - GO PATS!!! We interrupt this messaging with a message from B - GO BRONCOS!!!
  • Plant our Trees - Well, our trees already died from the life-sucking Summer so we will be planting tulips instead!
  • Halloween Bark - I made this for the first time last year and B is OBSESSED with it, I will be making multiple batches this year and I will have the recipe up soon
  • Patio Pipe Smoking - This is for B
  • Halloween Stockings - B had a great idea of having stockings similar to Christmas but with a Halloween twist - I am excited to try it with my new sewing machine!
  • Nuggie the Kitty - This happens on a consistent basis but the little fur-baby doesn't like the Summer so he is totally MIA during those wretched months and we celebrate his return with great joy.
  • Hot Apple Cider - Yum
  • Nightmare Before Christmas - B and I are totally into NBC and actually the first Christmas we were dating, we got each other the DVD without knowing it! We watch it for Halloween and Christmas since it is both!
  • Make Cinnamon Rolls - Another transfer from the Summer List
  • Celestial Seasonings Tour - Again a better fit for the Autumn List
  • Finish Painting - Almost done!
  • Try 25 New Recipes - I think I will definitely reach this because all the best food is in cold weather!
  • Autumnize the House - This is traditionally done on September 1st and makes the house feel so homey
  • Bake Homemade Bread - I have always wanted to do this
  • Travel Somewhere Together - We are thinking about a couple of options but anywhere would be super fun!
