Coupin Update

Well, I have been couponing for a few weeks now and so far I am totally loving it! So far I have been saving an average of 55% off my grocery bill! That is a ton of money and I could not be prouder of it, we have a great stockpile and free toothpaste tastes way better than $3 paste. Some notes from this experience:
  • This is a huge time commitment if you want to do it right.
    1. I purchase my newspaper each Sunday so we have a little grand old time picking that sucka up from Poops.
    2. Then I review and cut all the coupins that interest me.
    3. Then I check the online coupins for Target and Coupons.com and see if I can get additional copies or matching.
    4. Then I enter all my coupons into my masterful Coupin Tracker which is an excel file with all the specifics of each coupon including expiration date and discounts
    5. Wait until Tuesday when I get my sweaty little hands on the supermarche ads and check off which coupons will apply to get the most "Bang"
    6. Go on the Market websites and "clip" their store coupins
    7. Prepare my shopping list with all the deals for the week along with my meal plan meals (oh you will start to see how crazy of a planner I am now!!!)
    8. Break down the shopping list with each store I have to hit and the coupons to be used at each different store. On a coupin week I usually hit: Target, King Soopers, Safeway, Sprouts, and Costco. Exhausting thinking about it!
    9. Then I start on my trek - my shopping usually takes about 2 hours between all the stores... B always calls and is like, where are you? when are you home? He has been on one shopping day and I think he is scarred...
  • You have to be ok with having 4 different types of mustards and your pantry being so full, you think you are going to be crushed like a Black Friday sale! B and I have always been stock-pile believers because we try to purchase the most of something non-rotty when there is a good price. Thanksgiving is probably the absolute best time to get canned vegetables and dry goods. Fourth of July is the best for meats.
  • Also be prepared to get some new product on a stealer price and it will become your new food obsession. Oh Blueberry Thins you slay me!
So there is my little coupin update, I love it and B loves the savings, win-win! I don't think I will ever get to Extreme Couponing heights but that is ok because who needs 8,000 boxes of couscous which I have never tried before...
