Summer List 2011
This past weekend was filled with chores and boredom at the same time. The type of bored that you don't really want to do anything about it, the worst kind. Fortunately, we did finish all the paint touch ups from all the construction and we nailed down our Summer List and got started on some of the items.
The Summer List is something I totally jacked from another blog and I want to make sure we do it each and every year. If you know even a little about me, I LOVE lists, anything I can take the time and assemble and slowly check off brings me great joy. I know it's anal and can be annoying but I don't want to miss anything! Since this is probably the last year it will just be us and I am not baking a bun, we wanted to make sure we hit some things we have always talked about. Without further ado, I present the 2011 Campbell Summer List!

- Antiquing in Idaho Springs - I love looking through antiques and Idaho Springs looks so great for that all nestled in the mountains
- Baseball Game - I have not been to a Rockies Game since we have lived here and it reminds me of all the Angel's games I went to in my younger days
- Big Jim's Ribs - A food truck that parks on Parker Road with one of the best slogans ever "Put the South in Yo' Mouth!" so we definitely have to finally try some of that smoky goodness
- Bishop's Castle -We saw this on the news and it is pretty much directly South of us and it sounds very interesting - we are going to combine it with a Santa Fe trip
- Botanic Gardens - We want to revisit the beautiful place we got married
- Bowling - I am the worst bowler I know but at least I have fun
- Breckenridge - We always make a trip up there in the Fall but I hear that it is glorious in the Summertime and it never hurts to have some of the AMAZING Mary's Mountain Cookies!
- Brunch at the Broadmoor - I saw the Best Brunches on the Travel channel a while back and I saw the Broadmoor's and about died. Brandon is clearly the best because he hates breakfast
- Celestial Seasonings Tour - It's free and we get to drink some yummy tea, it is in Boulder which is not that far of a drive
- Celtic Pub - the local Pub we always say we want to visit
- Cinnamon Rolls - Now that I have an island, I have space to roll these suckers out. I might make a Pioneer Woman batch against my Grandma's and determine a winner. You know you want to be at my house when that all goes down!
- Colorado State Fair - Down in Pueblo and it looks like a ton of fun, plus they have so many country concerts there this year!
- Complete Photo Albums - I know it's kinda bor-ing but it would be nice to have all the pictures organized for once
- Demolition Derby - Who doesn't like a demo derby night?!
- Driving Range - We each have a great set of clubs that we never seem to use but we are determined this year
- Fancy Anniversary Dinner - Yum and Ro-man-teak
- Finish Painting - Goodness does it ever end? Our families always rip us for our painting but we are so ready for it all to be done. Only have to re-paint our brown walls so they are more chocolate and less baby-poo and re-paint the dining room with a sheen we can actually wipe
- Hike Seven Falls - Down in the Springs and it is so cool, last time we went we did not have appropriate footwear and did not hike all the little trails around.
- Host a big BBQ - This is something I have wanted to do since we moved in but we finally have the house in a presentable state to have people over and we are going to go big!
- Lord of the Rings Marathon - we usually do one each year and it never gets old. Started actually this weekend.
- Make a Texas Chili - I'm not bragging or anything, but my homemade chili is pretty awesome (recipe to be posted soon) but I use two kinds of meat and beans. The atrocity! So, I want to make a good Texan Chili and see what all the fuss is about. I would really want a Chili Cookoff but I don't know who I would battle against. Funny side note - one time I was talking to Brandon about a Chili Cookoff and instead I said Killy Chookoff and he will forever let me remember that!
- Pick Fruits / Veggies at a Local Farm - I went apple picking in Boston and it was fabulous so I have always wanted to do it again. So I found some local farms that allow you to pick your own and I totally am going to be all up in those plants business this year.
- Picnic - pretty basic but we still have never had one. Thinking of doing one in Breck
- Read 5 Books - I know, super ambitious but I know myself. I really want to read more than that but there is at least a minimum
- Renaissance Fair - The best one I have ever been to is in Larkspur and we always enjoy going
- Santa Fe - Extremely excited about this one, we have heard so many good things about Santa Fe and it really is not that far. The perfect road trip length and I get to eat tons of southwestern food! We have already booked a date and I am already counting down the days
- See Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II - Um, DUH
- Shooting Range - We always enjoy it and it is something fun we can do together. Plus I whip B at target practice!
- Smash Ball - I vaguely remember it but B loved it and after much searching, actually found a set at Sports Authority this weekend. We are definitely going to have fun with it in the backyard this year.
- S'mores - An oldie but a goodie
- Try 25 new recipes - I love making new things and I have already started on some new recipes, much from the help of my awesome Recipe Binders. Can I just say I have the best husband ever that supports anything I want to do!
- Walk to FroYo - This place just opened up at the local strip mall and it was amazing so I want to make a nice jaunt out of it with a prize at the end, FroYo!
- Water Balloon Tournament - I can't even remember the last time I played with water balloons but we want to have a bunch of endurance and random games out of it on a super hot day.
- Wild Animal Sanctuary - This is one of the coolest things. Not too far from us there is a sanctuary for a bunch of animals and they are most known for their lions and tigers.
